BCCI plans 5-nation series as Pakistan refuses to give up Asia Cup 2023 hosting

The cold war between India and Pakistan cricket governing bodies are getting escalated every single day. The ACC(Asian cricket council) granted the hosting rights of Asia Cup 2023 to PCB which was opposed by BCCI. The richest cricket board has already shown their disinterest in traveling to Pakistan. BCCI plans 5-nation series as Pakistan stands firm on its position.

The PCB( Pakistan Cricket Board) will host the Asia Cup 2023 just a couple of months before the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. After a long time, the country has got the hosting opportunity of any major event. However,  their arch-rivals India is still not convinced to visit the country as the political turmoil between the two nations still remains the same.

PCB presented a hybrid model in order to host the Asia Cup 2023

The PCB president introduced a hybrid model to ACC president Jay Shah in a recently held meeting. In that model, all the Asian nations except India will play their matches in Pakistan whereas India will complete their matches in a neutral venue.

According to the reports, President Jay Shah agreed on the terms of the model initially. Later after a couple of weeks, Shah said in the press that “We are awaiting feedback from other nations to finalize the venue for the 2023 Asia Cup and clarity on the India-Pakistan match,” Shah said during a media interaction.

Asia Cup 2023 might get postponed if Pakistan stand still on their point

After looking at the current scenario the possibility of Pakistan hosting the Asia Cup is looking very timid. Although they are still not letting the hosting rights go. The neutral cricket boards SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket Board) and BNCT (Bangladesh National Cricket Team) have also approached PCB to give up the hosting.

The hosts of the last 2 Asia Cups UAE have also shown interest in hosting another one. However, PCB is in no mood of backing away which will result in the Asia Cup’s postponement.
