‘Before 1947 we used to play together’ – Shadab Khan speaks up on reuniting with Indian brothers in MLC 2023

Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan was thrilled after practicing alongside Indian players in the Major League Cricket. Shadab Khan is a part of San Francisco Unicorns owned by Anand Rajaraman Venky Harinarayan, the franchise also has 2 Indian players, Tajinder Singh and Chaitanya Bishnoi who plays in the Indian domestic circuit.

During the team representation Shadab said, “Before Pakistan and India were separated, the players used to play together. It feels amazing to reunite with our Indian brothers in this tournament. It is a very good opportunity to bridge the differences,”

“We feel the same when we meet, like our culture, languages are very much similar. It feels different when we meet and speak Punjabi. We did the training session together and it went so well,” he added.

Shadab Khan’s all-round performance helped San Francisco win their opening game

San Francisco Unicorns takes on MI New York in their opening match of the season and came out victorious by 22 runs. Corey Anderson was the leading run-scorer of the match with 91 runs off 52 balls, apart from him Shadab Khan scored 61 runs from 31 deliveries and took 1 wicket of young gun Dewald Brevis in his 3-over spell.

All the teams in the Major League Cricket are owned by Indian Premier League franchises and also have similar names. Mi New York, Texas Super Kings, and Los Angles Knight Riders are owned Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Kolkata Knight Riders, GMR Group owners of Delhi Capitals also shares the ownership of Seattle Orcas, remaining 2 franchises Washington Freedom and San Francisco Unicorns are also owned by Indians.

Texas Super Kings are the table toppers currently followed by San Francisco United at 2 position. The inaugural season will be played in a single round-robin format and a total of 15 matches will be played between 6 teams before the knock-out stage.
