The 9th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League is set to go underway on January 6. The opening day will witness two games at Shere Bangla International Stadium, Dhaka. Chattogram Challengers will face Sylhet Strikers in the opening game while defending champion Comilla Victorians will meet Rangpur Riders in Evening. Meanwhile, fans in India are asking where to watch the live telecast of BPL 2023 matches on TV channel. The 7-team tournament is commencing today while the final is scheduled to play on February 16. A total of 46 games are to be played in the 42-day-long T20 league. Three venues in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet will host the entire tournament.

The format of the Bangladesh Premier League is a double round-robin and playoffs. Each team will face the 6 opponent teams two times during the league stage. So, a team will play 12 games before entering playoffs. The top 2 teams will play Qualifier 1 to reach the final while 3rd and 4th ranked teams will play the knock-out game called ‘Eliminator’. The loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of Eliminator will meet in Qualifier 2 match to become the 2nd finalist.

In the past 8 editions, the league is won by 4 different teams with Dhaka Dominators and Comilla Victorians being the joint most winners with 3 titles each. No Indian player has played BPL to date. But this year, former India u19 captain Unmukt Chand who is now shifted to the USA will don Chattogram Challengers’ jersey.
