Hampshire were chasing a tough target of 183 runs for victory against Sussex in the Vitality T20 Blast 2023 clash. They needed 23 runs from 11 balls while all-rounder Benny Howell was looking dangerous after scoring 25 from just 14 deliveries.

In the 19th over of Hampshire innings, pacer Tymal Mills bowled a full-length delivery around the leg stump channel which was swept brutally by Benny Howell and at once it looked like clearing the boundary. However, debutant Brad Currie had different plans.

Currie quickly covered the ground at the square leg position and made a full-length dive and grabbed an absolute stunner with his left hand to stun almost everyone on the field. “He’s … oh my goodness me. Did you ever … see anything like that?” reacted the commentator who was surprised with the brilliant effort.

In response to the total, Hampshire got off to a terrible start as they lost skipper James Vince, Ben McDermott and Toby Albert for single-digit scores. Middle-order batters Liam Dawson and Joe Weatherley then settled down the Hampshire innings. Dawson scored 59 runs off 34 deliveries while Weatherley smashed 33 runs off 28 balls.
