‘Brothers do fight’ – Deepak Hooda breaks silence on his relationship with Krunal Pandya

Once enemies, Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya are now playing for Lucknow Super Giants.

IPL 2022 has been going on in full swing where at one end, experienced players are doing well, on the other hand, young players are taking away the limelight too. Meanwhile, one incident that made headlines was Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya have been playing for the same franchise in the tournament – Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

However, this won’t be a surprise if they didn’t share a bitter past. Almost a year ago, Deepak Hooda stepped out of Baroda’s bio-bubble just before the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy following a spat with captain Krunal Pandya. Moreover, Hooda also alleged that Krunal Pandya was trying to pull him down and also warned him that he would make sure he did not play for Baroda again in future. Hooda then left the Baroda team and later joined Rajasthan to play domestic cricket as well.

From there to now, the duo are playing for the same franchise in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. However, it seems like the duo have buried the past and are enjoying the success of their team’s win together in the IPL.

“Krunal Pandya is like my brother, and brothers do fight. We are playing with one aim, which is to win games for LSG,” Deepak Hooda told Dainik Jagran in an interview.

During the IPL mega auction in February in Bengaluru this year, Deepak Hooda was sold for 5.75 crore, whereas LSG bought Krunal Pandya for a whopping Rs 8.25 crore as well.

When Deepak Hooda was asked about what was his reaction when he got to know that he will have to share the dressing room with Krunal Pandya in the IPL. He said: “I was not watching the IPL auction. We met just like the other players at the team hotel. Whatever happened is in the past, and as I said, we both are playing for the same team and our goals, too, are the same.”

As far as their performance is concerned, LSG are currently at the fifth position with 2 wins from 3 games. They will next take on Delhi Capitals on April 7 at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai as well.
