Chandrayaan 3 Landing: Kohli, Rohit, Saina Nehwal among sportspersons to lead wishes

Indian Sportspersons send congratulatory messages to the entire ISRO team.

India etched its name into the record books after becoming the first and only country to make a successful soft-landing on the lunar’s South Pole. Chandrayaan-3 is the third Indian lunar exploration mission carried out under the Chandrayaan programme of the ISRO. Just a month ago, the mission was launched on the date, July 14, 2023, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

It successfully entered the lunar orbit on August 2. The landing of the Vikram lander was scheduled for August 23, 2023, and today, the mission succeeded as India made a soft landing near the South pole of the moon. The Pragyan (rover) will carry out experiments and investigate the lunar atmosphere and dust.

The objective of this mission is to search for water ice in the lunar polar regions and to examine the structure and composition of the Moon. Notably, 8 million people watched Chandrayaan 3 landing on the moon’s surface on ISRO’s official YouTube channel, which is a record for the highest peak viewership in YouTube’s Live history.

In the wake of successful soft-landing, celebrities, sportspersons and netizens sent congratulatory messages to the entire ISRO team. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar and Saina Nehwal led the sports fraternity to congratulate the Indian Space and Research Organization.

Meanwhile, the new generation cricketer Shubman Gill also took to his Twitter handle and then congratulated ISRO. He wrote, “Kudos to the brilliant minds at @ISRO for their extraordinary achievement! Congratulations to the #Chandrayaan3 team for their outstanding achievement!” On the other hand, Ishan Kishan wrote, “A historic moment for our nation as Chandrayaan 3 successfully lands on the moon. Congratulations to all involved”

The Chandrayaan-3 mission is a sensational milestone in India’s space program. This shows India’s growing capabilities in space exploration and its commitment to scientific research. People in India couldn’t be any happier upon seeing their country make a historic achievement. The next step for the Chandrayaan-3 mission is to continue to orbit the Moon and collect the relevant data. It is said that ISRO is also planning to launch a follow-up mission named “Chandrayaan-4”, in the coming years.
