The defending IPL champions, CSK, have chosen to retain the majority of their players. It’s not surprising that a team would want to stick with their winning combination after lifting the trophy. The franchise’s face, MS Dhoni, will continue to be part of the yellow brigade and is expected to lead the side. Ben Stokes decided not to play in IPL 2024, so he automatically got released. As the English captain, he mentioned workload as the reason. By opting out, he gave up 16.25 crore rupees which he would have got if CSK had chosen to retain him. However, he played just two games last season, there were rumors about CSK releasing him.
Chennai Super Kings have also released their only two South African cricketers Dwaine Pretorius and Sisanda Magala. Pretorious was part of MS Dhoni-led since IPL 2022 while Magala had joined CSK last season as replacement. The 4th star player that CSK has released is Kyle Jamieson.
Obviously, Ambati Rayudu is part of the list as he announced retirement from the league after winning the IPL 2023 season. Akash Singh, Bhagath Varma, and Subhranshu Senapati are also among the eight players released by Chennai Super Kings.

CSK’s remaining purse for IPL 2024 Auction
Chennai Super Kings will enter the IPL 2024 Auction with a purse of 32.1 crore rupees. This includes 25.6 crore rupees acquired through the release of players, along with the remaining 1.5 crore from the last auction and an additional allocation of 5 crore rupees.
