Chief Selector Names Three Keepers As Backup Of Rishabh Pant

We all know that Rishabh Pant is good batsman, but his performance has not been good for the last few matches. After Dhoni, Rishabh Pant is the first choice of Indian selectors for a wicketkeeper. But this kind of performance forces Indian selectors to think to look for the back-up wicketkeeper.

India chairman of selectors MSK Prasad stated that the selection committee is working towards grooming wicket-keepers ready to manage the workload of the left-hander. Pant has been under a lot of work ever since he made a debut in the Indian side.

After the world cup, Pant’s performance is not going well. Pant scored a fantastic half-century in the 3rd T20I against West Indies apart from that his performance has not been good. In the second match against South Africa Pant had scored only 4 runs in 5 balls. This representation of Pant has caused a headache to Indian team management.

Ravi Shastri in a recent interview with Star Sports said, “Pant’s shot selection has left team down sometimes.”

“There will be a rap on the knuckles there – talent or no talent – because you are letting the team down, forget letting yourself down. You have a target to chase where the need of the hour is some sensible cricket” added the coach in his interview.

MSK Prasad said we are monitoring the workload of Rishabh. He also said we are looking for backups for the left-handers. We have KS Bharath, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson doing very well in the shorter formats for India ‘A’ and domestic cricket, the chief selector added.
