A hilarious moment caught on air inside the commentary box saw Australian commentator James Brayshaw, while introducing the commentary change, mistakenly introduce Sunil Gavaskar as ‘Sachin Tendulkar’ alongside fellow Aussie commentator Damien Fleming. The embarrasing moment met with a quick apology from Brayshaw but not before Gavaskar in a light-hearted joke added how flattered he was for been referred to as the games’ legend in Sachin Tendulkar.
“Welcome Sachin Tendulkar to the commentary box.”
Yes, you’ve read it right, for these were the words that followed after Australian commentator James Brayshaw mistakenly welcomed “Sachin Tendulkar” to join the commentary. It so happened during the third Test between Australia and India on Day 2 where James Brayshaw, seated beside former players Damied Fleming and Sunil Gavaskar was hosting the commentary for Channel 7 where the goof-up was caught on air. Here’s what the microphones captured after the hilarious mistake:
Brayshaw: “Sachin Tendulkar, welcome, and also Damien Fleming.”
Fleming: “Sachin Tendulkar’s in the commentary box?”
Brayshaw: “We were just talking …
Fleming: “[This is] the great man, the little master.”
Brayshaw: “My apologies Sunil, we were just talking about him a second ago.”
Gavaskar: “I am flattered, I am flattered to be called Sachin Tendulkar.”
Brayshaw: “We were just talking about him a second ago.”
I don’t mind James Brayshaw as an AFL commentator but as for cricket, he is very ordinary.
This clip is truly embarrassing.

Australia Pile Up on India’s Misery
Australia set India task of chasing down 407 to win the third test at Sydney after having declared their second innings on 312/6. First innings centurion Steve Smith along with Manus Labuschagne were once again the architects of Australia’s innings which was further boosted by a useful 84 from allrounder Cameron Green. In the company of skipper Tim Paine, Green led a quickfire onslaught on the Indian bowlers which set up an exciting finish to the test going into the last day. At the close of play on Day 4, India were 98/2 losing both openers again after a bright start.
