Parvez Rasool, the first cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir to represent India in International cricket, wasn’t happy with the accuses the JKCA has imposed on him. The cricketer has been issued a letter by the JKCA in which he has been accused of having stolen a ‘Pitch Roller’. The cricket body even intimidated the player that Legal action would be taken if he does not return the roller.
Talking to The India Express, Anil Gupta, a BJP spokesperson Brigadier (retd), said that the matter is being hyped up. He said that they sent the mail because Rasool’s name was in the register. The mailing addresses of all the district associations were not available including Rasool’s district association. Parvez Rasool’s name was found in the place of his district, Gupta said. Anil Gupta is a part of the sub-committee that runs JKCA.
Gupta also mentioned that they did this in order to prepare an audit report. He said that a ledger book needs to be maintained as there has been no book maintenance over the years. It was seen after taking over, owing to the Court’s order, that the machinery was absent, Gupta said.
Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had passed an order that the BCCI should run JKCA cricket. As a result, the sub-committee came into existence in June. Along with cricketer Mithun Manhas, two BJP spokespersons, Anil Gupta and advocate Sunil Sethi are the members of the committee. In addition, Majid Dar will look into the development of the sport in Srinagar and will report to the sub-committee.
Anil Gupta’s Statement
“We have not only written to Rasool but to all district associations and whosoever has taken JKCA machinery from Srinagar. Machinery was distributed at district associations without any vouchers. In many districts where we don’t have a mailing address. The letter was sent to the concerned person whose name was registered with us. He (Rasool) took offense to why the mail was written to him,” Gupta said while speaking to The Indian Express.
Gupta added that the warning of the legal action was included in the second notice. They did so because some District Associations took the first notice lightly & thought that they could easily get away with it, according to Gupta.
Parvez Rasool, being upset from the way JKCA treated him wrote back to the association expressing his displeasure.

Here’s what Parvez Rasool wrote back to the JKCA
On July 26, Rasool had written back to the JKCA: “This is to inform you that I Parvez Rasool first international cricketer have represented my country and also played in IPL, Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, India A, Board president XI, Irani Trophy, captained the J&K Ranji team from last 6 years and only cricketer from J&K who got best all-rounder award from BCCI 2 times. Today I got a letter stating that I have taken roller from JKCA which is really unfortunate… Let me clarify that I haven’t taken any roller or machine from JKCA. I am a player who is playing cricket. I just want to ask is the way to treat an international cricketer who has given life and soul to J&K cricket. You have an affiliated body in all districts; you should ask them for any JKCA equipment if present in their districts rather than me.”
