Chennai Super Kings is all set for the 2021 season of the IPL. Players have started joining the team camp ahead of the league. Recently, BCCI announced a full-fledged schedule of the cash-rich league. The season will kickstart on 9 April and a total of 60 matches to be played at 6 venues. However, no team will play in their home stadium. Amid, CSK unveils the new jersey for the IPL 2021. The franchise has made some major changes in its kit.

CSK New Jersey has an Army Look 

Myntra has replaced ‘The Muthoot Group’ as the main sponsor of the team. The official Twitter handle of the franchise shared a vector image of the jersey. However, the official jersey has not yet launched. But the team bus of CSK has already given the glimpses of the new jersey. Posters on the bus suggest that the jersey is a tribute to the Indian Army.

In the posters, players can be seen wearing the new jersey and all the sponsors can be noticed. Interestingly, there are military camouflage straps on both shoulders of the shirt. We all aware of the fact that MS Dhoni is holding the honorary post of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army. Chennai Super Kings skipper’s love for the army is not hidden from anyone. After seeing the new jersey of CSK, we can conclude that this is the franchise’s special gesture for Dhoni.

CSK Ahead of IPL 2021

Chennai had a forgettable season last year and which led them to make certain changes ahead of the IPL 2021. The franchise had released 5 players including Kedar Jadhav and Harbhajan Singh from the squad while Shane Watson had taken retirement after a disastrous season. CSK retained newly recruited Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sam Curran which are going to be key to the team’s success this year.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina will be making his comeback after missing the whole tournament in 2020. The recent auction was a decent one for Chennai as they bought 6 players, 4 of which were uncapped Indian players. CSK spent INR 9.25 crore to bring uncapped Krishanappa Gowtham and the bid popped many eyes. Moeen Ali was their only overseas buy. Management’s decision of buying Cheteshwar Pujara earned respect from fans.
