During the first ODI between England and New Zealand in Cardiff Adil Rashid provided the first breakthrough to the hosts. Rashid bowled an absolute snorter to the Kiwi opener who had no clue how to play that delivery. The delivery gave a flashback to the Indian cricket team fans as Rashid bowled a similar one to dismiss Kohli during the 2018 ODI series.

While England was defending the 291 runs in the Sophia Gardens New Zealand openers gave a great start to their team remaining not out in the first 10 overs. Conway and Young made 60 runs together in the first 10 overs which made Buttler go for a change and bring on his leg spinner.

Rashid did the trick for England as he bowled an absolute jaffa to Will Young which drifted in and spun away from him. Young wasn’t expecting Rashid to be so accurate in his very first delivery of the spell hence he just kept the bat in front of the line of the ball expecting that the ball wouldn’t do much from the surface.

Adil’s first delivery of the spell pitched on the line of middle stump angling in and spinning off the surface away from Will Young which he couldn’t jump. Rashid’s delivery bamboozled Young’s off stump and England got their first breakthrough of the innings.

Meanwhile, the fans got the flashback of 2018 after seeing the dismissal of Young in the ongoing ODI series. Back in the 2018 England and India ODI series Indian captain Virat Kohli got out in a similar fashion while batting on 71 runs at Headingley.

During the third ODI of the series, India was asked to bat first and post a challenging target on board. Responding to the task Kohli marched forward to note his first ODI hundred in England however Rashid had some other plans.

The leg spinner bowled an unplayable delivery which left Kohli jaw-dropping standing inside the pitch. The ball drifted in an identical way and spun a mile to dismantle a well-settled Kohli’s off stump.

Mitchell-Conway centuries sealed Kiwi’s victory in the first ODI

Latham and his men have given a statement to the world cricket by defeating the world champions in their home convincingly just a month before the World Cup.

The English bowling lineup looked pretty average in front of Conway and Daryll Mitchell. The two players made a 291-run total look a cakewalk and remained unbeaten to seal New Zealand a famous win with 8 wickets in hand.
