Dhoni’s CSK started off the UAE leg of IPL 2021 with a brilliant win over Mumbai Indians on Sunday. The match looked to have slipped out of Chennai’s hand but they managed to pull back the things to their side. The Captain Cool MS Dhoni was as always spot on with his bowling changes and field placements throughout the match but he lost his cool on Dwayne Bravo on one occasion.

This happened in the 18th over of the Mumbai innings when Saurabh Tiwary was batting with Adam Milne. Mumbai had lost all their recognized batsmen by then except Tiwary. While Adam Milne was supporting Tiwary well, the latter was looking good and keeping the hopes of the Mumbai side alive. He had already scored 41 in 34 balls and had just hit a boundary to Deepak Chahar in the over.

Dhoni loses his cool over Dwayne Bravo due to a mix-up

Looking at the required run rate climbing with every ball, Tiwary attempted to scoop away the 4th ball of the 18th over. Looking at Tiwary shifting across the off-stump, Chahar cleverly followed him and pitched the ball outside the off-stump, leaving less room for Tiwary to play the shot. The ball took the top edge of the bat and went up into the air towards the Short-fine leg.

Having the gloves in hand, Dhoni made the ground and went for the catch but at the same time, Dwayne Bravo was well-positioned for the catch. With both the players calling for the catch, a mix-up happened and the ball went down between both the players.

Dhoni was seen losing his cool as he thought it was his catch to take. While Bravo who was in a good position in order to grab the catch looked confused as to why Dhoni ran in for the catch. At that point, Mumbai required 41 off 15 deliveries and it could’ve been anyone’s game.

Fortunately, for CSK, the dropped catch didn’t cost much as they went on to win the match by 20 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad was named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant knock of 88 in just 58 deliveries. Chennai Super Kings will next face the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday in Sharjah.
