Gujarat Titans’ head coach Ashish Nehra didn’t look quite happy with his team’s performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad as he didn’t celebrate Shubman Gill’s hundred. Ashish Nehra lost his cool after Gujarat Titans’ innings and had an intense chat with GT skipper Hardik Pandya as he was expecting a better performance from his team.

Ashish Nehra has got great success as the coach of Gujarat Titans right from the word go. He rarely loses his temper and has mostly been all smiles since IPL 2022 when the GT franchise made their debut. However, things seemed pretty different during the GT vs SRH game on May 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Gujarat Titans lost the wicket of Wriddhiman Saha just in the first over but revived well as Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan made a formidable partnership for the second wicket. The duo together amassed 147 runs in the partnership.

The GT side were once cruising towards the 200-run mark but after the dismissal of Sai Sudharsan they completely lost the momentum. Skipper Hardik Pandya, senior batter David Miller and Rahul Tewatia all lost their wickets for single-digit scores.

Ashish Nehra probably wasn’t happy with the way the team struggled in the latter phase of the game. When Shubman Gill had completed his maiden IPL ton, all Gujarat Titans’ members and players were on their feet to applaud the youngster’s century, but the GT coach was the only one who was still seated and showed no emotion at all.

Commentators Aakash Chopra and Saba Karim were baffled by Nehra’s reaction and they stated that the GT coach probably expects more from the team and hence did not celebrate Shubman Gill’s hundred. Aakash Chopra pointed out that on May 7 when Shubman Gill was restricted to a score of 94 still the GT side had crossed 200, but in the game against SRH, they were well far from the 200-run mark.

After the end of the Gujarat Titans’ innings, Ashish Nehra was seen having an animated chat with skipper Hardik Pandya as well. The chat between Hardik and Nehra seemed quite intense. After Nehra walked away, it was Gujarat Titans’ Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki who was seen trying to calm down Hardik Pandya.

Despite losing wickets in quick succession, the GT side posted a total of 188-9. They eventually went on to win the GT vs SRH clash by 34 runs.
