Did Vaibhav Suryavanshi reveal his real age in this Old Video? Amid age fraud allegations, 2-year-old video goes viral

After 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was bought in the IPL 2025 auction, some people have raised questions about his age.

On Monday, Bihar’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.10 crore in the IPL auction, making him the youngest player in IPL history at just 13 years old. However, his age has sparked controversy on social media, with some users claiming he is over 15. Adding to the debate, an X user shared an old interview video where Vaibhav himself talks about his age.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi talked about his age in an old video

This interview video was uploaded by a YouTube channel named BNN News on April 6, 2023. In the video, when the interviewer asks Vaibhav about his age, he states that he will turn 14 on the upcoming September 27. Based on this, Vaibhav would have turned 15 on September 27, 2024, which would make his current age 15 years and 1 month as of today.

However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, has dismissed all the allegations. In an interview with PTI, he stated, “When he was 8 and a half years old, he first appeared for a BCCI bone test. He has already played for India U-19. We don’t fear anyone. He can undergo an age test again.”

As per BCCI records, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s date of birth is March 27, 2011, making his current age 13 years and 8 months. At this young age, he has already played five Ranji Trophy matches for Bihar, even captained the side, and has recently represented India U19. In the India U19 vs Australia U19 Youth Test series held in September-October 2024, Vaibhav made history by scoring a century, becoming the youngest player to achieve this feat in youth international cricket.

While some may question Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s age, there is no doubt about his talent. Being bought for ₹1.10 crore in the IPL auction at such a young age is a remarkable achievement. His base price was ₹30 lakh, and it was Delhi Capitals that first bid for him. However, Rajasthan Royals won the bidding war against DC to secure his services.
