Dinesh Karthik is out from the Indian side after the 2019 World Cup. He had made the cut to World Cup after 12 years of career but failed to leave an impact. Since the ouster, Karthik has been missing from the cricketing action. But, during a Carribean Premier League (CPL) match, Dinesh Karthik spotted in the dressing room of Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR).
Karthik In Trouble After CPL Match
After the match, Dinesh Karthik lands in trouble. BCCI has sent a show-cause notice to Karthik. A senior BCCI official said, “Yes, Dinesh Karthik has been issued a show-cause notice by the BCCI. We have received photographs where Karthik is seen in the dressing room of Trinbago Knight Riders. BCCI CEO Rahul Johri has issued a show-cause notice asking him to explain why his central contract shouldn’t be annulled,”
As per BCCI rules, an Indian player has to take permission from the board before appearing on any event. And if the player has an active central contract with BCCI, he cannot appear in any league other than IPL. Dinesh Karthik is currently holding a Grade-C contract. So his contract doesn’t allow him to appear in leagues like CPL. Now, he has to explain things to BCCI within 7 days.
The West Indies based franchise TKR is owned by Shah Rukh Khan who is also the co-owner of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. Karthik has a good connection with SRK as he is the current captain of KKR. During the CPL match, Karthik was sitting alongside Brendon McCullum who is the coach of both KKR and TKR.
