Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed were involved in a funny fielding incident: The Day 1 of the Lord’s test went the visitor’s way as India piled up 276 runs with the loss of 3 wickets. KL Rahul stoops up to the task as he scored a brilliant century to put India on the driving seat at the end of the first day at Lord’s. After a steady start, Rohit Sharma went on to score runs with a paced rate whereas Rahul kept seeing off the deliveries from the other end.

James Anderson was finally successful to break India’s opening stand of 126 runs in the 44th over. He dismissed Rohit Sharma with an in-swinging delivery which knocked the top of the off-stump. The right-hander missed his maiden overseas century as he got out on a score of 83. It was just after a few overs from Rohit’s dismissal when Anderson scalped his second wicket. Pujara edged the last ball of the 47th over and provided Anderson with his 2nd wicket.

A funny incident happened in the 59th over

A funny incident happened on the first day of the Lord’s Test when the Indian Captain Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were batting in the 59th over of the innings. The bowler, Sam Curran, bowled a wide delivery outside the off stump when Kohli was on strike. In a reply to the loose delivery, Kohli learned to push the ball towards covers. The bowl rushed towards the boundary and two English fielders were behind the ball, chasing it.

Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed both were chasing the ball and there came a point when both the fielders came very close to the ball. This was when the funny incident happened. Both the fielders slowed down at the same time, thinking that the other would dive to prevent the ball from reaching the boundary. The very next moment both Sibley and Hameed realized that both of them had backed off and both attempted the dive together which was hilarious for the viewers.

Sibley managed to pull the ball in at the right time. Hameed came in an awkward position where he had to prevent the ball from touching him as he was in contact with the boundary. While all this was happening, Kohli and Rahul ran 3 runs in between the wickets.

Harsha Bhogle’s reaction

Harsha Bhogle was heard laughing while the incident unfolded. “I think Haseeb Hameed’s was ‘I’m getting away from the ball kind of dive’ while Dom Sibley’s was ‘towards the ball kind of dive’, Harsha said while commentating.
