The Super 12 phase of the T20 World Cup 2021 kickstarted on 23rd October with two back-to-back matches on offer. The first game was played between South Africa and Australia, while the second one saw England and West Indies locking horns. The fans were all set for a gripping thriller, however, the second match turned out to be bland. The ENG vs WI match was a one-sided affair as the defending champions looked off-colour.

The second match of the evening between England and the West Indies was a virtual repeat of the 2016 edition of the T20 World Cup final where both these sides battled for the coveted trophy. Unlike 2016 final, the West Indian team disappointed the fans with their dismal performance. However, the ENG vs WI match had a silver lining for the Windies in the form of Akeal Hosein and his unbelievable catch.

Akeal Hosein’s stunning Caught and Bowled

The spectacular display of fielding by Hosein came in the 7th over when he was bowling to Liam Livingstone. Hosein bowled a full ball on the pads and the ball drifted. Livingstone played the flick a tad early, getting the leading edge and the ball went in the air.

Akeal Hosein put in a full-length dive to his left and completed a one-handed stunner. The bowler ran away in joy and deservingly so. The stunning catch was appreciated by all the West Indies players.

The wonderful catch by Hosein affected the fourth wicket for England, becoming the highlight of the ENG vs WI game, however, it didn’t really impact the result of the game. West Indies were bundled up by the English bowlers for just 55 in 14.2 overs. Though the West Indian bowlers gave a tough time to the English batsman, they achieved their target within 9 overs to win the game by 6 wickets.
