Eoin Morgan to play Legend League Cricket season 2

Former England captain Eoin Morgan will participate in the Legends League Cricket this year.

On June 28, Morgan announced retirement from International cricket after playing 16 Tests, 248 ODIs, and 115 T20Is for England and Ireland in a storied career that spanned for almost 16 years.

The 35-year-old finished as the leading run-scorer for England in ODIs (6957) and T20Is (2458) and also ended as their most capped captain in both the white-ball formats – 72 T20Is and 126 ODIS.

Super excited to be part of Legends League Cricket: Eoin Morgan

Morgan led England to their maiden title in the 50-over format after they beat New Zealand on boundary count in the 2019 World Cup final.

Morgan will join other prominent players like Virender Sehwag, Brett Lee, Muttiah Muralitharan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Pathan brothers — Irfan and Yusuf in LLC 2.

“It feels great and I am super excited to be part of Legends. I am looking forward to play in season 2,” Morgan said in a release.

Albie Morkel, Jonty Rhodes, Liam Plunkett, Joginder Sharma, Ajantha Mendis, and Dilhara Fernando will also be part of the LLC season 2.

Raman Raheja, the CEO and co-founder of Legends League Cricket, said the addition of the former players will boost the tournament’s impression.

With these additions, our second season is becoming bolder and bigger. With great pleasure, we welcome them to the Legends family and looking forward to witness their magic on field at LLC Season 2,” Raheja said in a statement.

The first season of Legends League Cricket was held between January 20 and 29 this year in Oman. The former players were divided into three teams namely Asia Lions, India Maharajas and World Giants.

Sehwag was the captain of India Maharajas and Misbah led Asia Lions Two-time T20 World Cup-winning captain Daren Sammy led World Giants to the title in the first season.

The second edition of the Legends League Cricket will be played from September 20 till October 10.
