Arjun Tendulkar has stunned cricket fans by scoring a mighty hundred in his Ranji Trophy debut for Goa against Rajasthan.

Arjun scored 120 off 207 balls for Goa against Rajasthan, smashing 16 fours and two sixes.

Arjun Tendulkar switched from Mumbai to Goa earlier this year in order to get more opportunities in the Ranji Trophy. He didn’t disappoint his side as he straightaway scored a ton against a strong Rajasthan bowling lineup. Arjun was batting on 4 not out, he was sent as a nightwatchman and carried on in some fashion as he went on to score 120 off 207 balls.

Sachin Tendulkar was asked about Arjun’s success in the debut game during a chat with Gaurav Kapoor in an event organized by Infosys. Tendulkar recalled a memory concerning his father, Ramesh Tendulkar. “I remember hearing my father tell someone – this was just when I had started playing for India – someone referred to him as ‘Sachin’s father’. He heard that, and then my father’s friend asked him ‘how do you feel?’ He said, ‘it’s the proudest moment of my life’. Fathers want their children to be recognized by what their child has done,” said Tendulkar.

“Arjun has not led a normal childhood. Being a son of a cricketer who’s been around for quite some time, it’s not so easy. “It hasn’t been an easy ride for him, it’s been a tough journey for him,” Tendulkar further added.

Junior Tendulkar, after coming in as a night watchman, showed some great temperament and batted along with No. 3 Suyash Prabhudessai who scored 216 runs to put together 221 runs for the sixth wicket partnership to take Goa to a mammoth 493/8 at close on day two.

It’s worth noting that Mumbai is the most successful team in the Indian domestic circuit. It becomes really tough for young cricketers to get opportunities in the Mumbai side and considering this fact, Arjun Tendulkar decided to shift to the Goa side. He didn’t miss out on his debut opportunity that too against a bowling lineup which had the likes of Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Aniket Chaudhary.
