Olympique Marseille have been doing pretty decently well as a team for the last couple of seasons now. They finished second in the 2021-22 season and finished third in the 2022-23 season. Their performances in the last couple of seasons clearly tell us they have showcased a great deal of intent to win games but lacked the killer instinct to aim for the title.

Their rival teams such as Paris Saint Germain and Monaco have produced much better results than Marseille quite consistently over the years. In a bid to close the gap or to compete with big clubs, Olympique Marseille have been trying their maximum best to sign the right players that fit their bill.

Meanwhile, in the latest development, they are set to welcome an experienced goal-scoring machine. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be looking forward to starting a new chapter at the French club. The Gabonese international played for multiple clubs including Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea so far in his stellar career.

After being out of Chelsea’s plans anymore, the Gabon national team’s all-time top goalscorer made up his mind about shifting his base to Olympique Marseille. According to a renowned football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Aubameyang gave a ‘green light’ to join the Ligue 1 2022-23 runners-up. The prolific goalscorer will sign a three-year deal, which will come to a close on June 2026.

The Blues will let the 34-year-old forward leave the club as a free agent. He is expected to join the French club tonight and will undergo medical on July 20, Thursday. Olympique Marseille fans would be very much excited to see Aubameyang in action for the next season.

“Pierre Aubameyang has agreed to join Olympique Marseille, here we go! Auba will sign a three-year deal, as called two days ago — until June 2026. Chelsea will let him leave for free, and told Auba will arrive tonight at the Olympique Marseille camp and then undergo medical tests on Thursday. Done,” Fabrizio Romano tweeted.

Although Aubameyang failed to find success at his previous clubs Chelsea and Barcelona, he raised his bar and delivered the goods for Arsenal and Dortmund when it mattered the most. It is worth mentioning here that that former Arsenal captain won the FA Cup and Community Shield when he was at the club. Overall, he has netted 141 goals for Dortmund in 213 appearances and 92 goals for Arsenal in 163 appearances.
