The Indian team awards the best fielder of the match with a medal in order to motivate the players to give their 100% on the field during the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023. All the Indian players seem to be quite excited about this new concept introduced by the fielding coach T. Dilip.

Here’s the list of Winners of Best Fielder Medal in the First 5 CWC Matches

1. Virat Kohli

Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli set the tone on the field in their opening World Cup 2023 game against the mighty Aussies. Kohli took an incredible catch at the first slips to dismiss in-form Mitchell Marsh off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling.

He remained consistent with his efforts on the field throughout the game and hence he was awarded the best fielder medal by T. Dilip.

2. Shardul Thakur

In the game against Afghanistan, opening batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz was looking quite set to play a big knock on a flat Delhi pitch. However, he mistimed his shot towards the deep backward square leg boundary off a short ball by Hardik Pandya.

Pacer Shardul Thakur remained quite calm, took the catch and then flicked the ball away as he crossed the boundary line and recovered in time to grab it again to dismiss Gurbaz.

3. KL Rahul

KL Rahul has been exceptional behind the wickets right from the first game against Australia and was even better in the game against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 14 in Ahmedabad.

T Dilip had mentioned that the wicketkeeping often gets ignored but KL Rahul was brilliant as a keeper in the high-voltage clash. Rahul grabbed a brilliant catch to dismiss opening batter Imam-ul-Haq, diving to his left side.

4. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is arguably the finest fielder amongst the current players and in the match against Bangladesh he showed why he is rated so highly. He took a blinder to get rid of Mushfiqur Rahim off Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery in the 43rd of the match.

Jadeja was positioned at backward point and dived towards his right and claimed the catch with both hands to provide an important breakthrough for his team and claimed the best fielder medal.

5. Shreyas Iyer

Team India’s fielders made a few mistakes in the World Cup 2023 game against New Zealand on October 22 and dropped a couple of catches as well. However, Shreyas Iyer was brilliant throughout the game and took an outstanding catch at square leg to dismiss Devon Conway.
