On Thursday, all 8 IPL franchises spent a total of 145.3 crore rupees to purchase 57 players in the auction. All the teams are now equally strong and will give a tough fight to each other during the 14th edition of the cash-rich league. Meanwhile, there is one question in fans’ minds that from when will the first match of IPL 2021 start. The 13th edition of the league took place in October and November month of 2020. So there is definitely doubt in fans’ minds regarding the start date of the tournament.
When Will IPL 2021 First Match Start?

So clearing your doubts tell you that, this year BCCI will organize the tournament in April and May. The Indian board has this window since 2008. In 2020, the ICC t20 world cup was postponed due to travel restrictions of players. Later BCCI had obtained the window from ICC to organize the 13th season of the biggest t20 league.
The first match of IPL 2021 is expected to start on 11 April and the final will take place on 6 June 2021. Last year, United Arab Emirates (UAE) hosted the tournament due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the country. The government of India had told BCCI to postponed the tournaments and international series. However, now things are under control in the country. Recently, India welcomed spectators in international matches. So India will be the venue for the upcoming season. However, the number of stadiums may be less this time.
Things To Know Before The Start of IPL
Initially, BCCI had planned to bring two new franchises in 2021, ICC governing council has approved the idea. However, this year there was not enough time to create two new teams. So in 2022, two additional franchises may join the cash-rich league. The council has also approved the idea of 5 overseas players in the playing 11. As 8 franchises will compete in the 14th season of the league, a total of 60 matches to be played out of which 56 will be league matches while the rest four will be playoffs and the final match.
