Glenn Maxwell to play for a new team in Ipl 2021 i.e. RCB: Preparations for the 2021 IPL have already started grandly, as the 8 teams sit around the auction tables in Chennai to fight for their favorite players. The first two hours of the day have seen some really exciting purchases; including a record all-time highest bid worth INR 16.25 Crores for South African all-rounder Chris Morris. Besides Morris, there were several other highball money signings. Upcoming Australian fast-bowler Jhye Richardson fetched a 14 Crore deal with the Punjab Kings. Meanwhile, Moeen Ali, thanks to his pyrotechnics in the latest test match against India, landed a 7-Crore INR worth dealing with the Chennai Super Kings. On the domestic front, the likes of Shivam Dube (4.4 Cr, Rajasthan) and Piyush Chawla (5 Cr, Mumbai) have been among the most notable acquisitions so far.
Maxwell gets a new team in IPL 2021 after RCB sign him for INR 14.25 Crores
One name, however, that raised quite a few eyebrows as to how the overall purchase went down; was that of Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. Despite coming off the back of two successive disappointing IPL seasons with Delhi and Punjab, Maxi managed to land a mammoth INR 14.25 crores deal with his new team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Social media fans and cricket pundits alike were left quite stumped behind RCB’s thought process on the Maxwell purchase. Some of them even took the liberty to mock RCB for investing such a big portion of their wallet on someone as inconsistent as himself. Unsurprisingly, the Rajasthan Royals’ Twitter account’s name also happened to feature among these trolls; as they’ve done on several occasions in the past.
RR and RCB’s Maxwell-Morris banter on Twitter
In a recent Twitter post, Rajasthan ‘thanked’ Maxwell for raising his stocks up in auctions and decreasing RCB’s overall purse. They even uploaded a gif of a man making ‘snow angels’ in a big wad of cash to further illustrate their point.

RCB, unwilling to go down without a comic rebuttal, counter-posted a meme on RR’s wallet after they made the record purchase on Morris. And to add further salt to their comical mix, they had the perfect gif to hit back with: a laughing pose of American actor Leonardo DiCaprio from his famous ‘smug’ Django Unchained meme!
