Gujarat Titans to wear lavender jersey in match vs Sunrisers Hyderabad; Here’s why

Gujarat Titans took to their official Instagram account to share the heartwarming update.

Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2023 game on May 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the game against SRH, which will also be their last home game in this season, the GT team will sport a lavender jersey to spread Cancer awareness.

Gujarat Titans to don lavender jersey to support battle against cancer

The defending champions took to their official Instagram account to share the heartwarming update in their support towards the cause. Instead of the regular dark blue kit, the players of the Titans will be seen donning a lavender-coloured outfit to raise awareness against cancer.

“We are ready to don the lavender colours this Monday for a special cause. Gujarat Titans cares about the health and wellness of one and all! Join us as we strive to raise awareness against cancer,” Gujarat Titans’ captioned their post on Instagram.

The COO of Gujarat Titans, Col Arvinder Singh stated, “Cancer causes millions of deaths worldwide and with a devastating impact on patients and their families. We are happy to do our bit in raising awareness about cancer, which not only is an effort to educate people about the importance of early detection but also underscores the significance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to reduce cancer risks. Our team is committed to driving positive change and contributing to the global fight against cancer.”

Gujarat Titans’ skipper Hardik Pandya too discussed the initiative and said, “Cancer is a battle fought by millions in India and across the globe, and as a team, we feel responsible towards raising awareness about this deadly disease. Wearing lavender jerseys is our way of showing solidarity with cancer patients, survivors, and their families. We hope our actions will inspire others to take preventive measures and support those who are fighting this battle.”

The Hardik Pandya-led side is currently leading the IPL 2023 points table with 8 victories in 12 games and have 16 points against their name. They also have a pretty good net run rate of +0.7 as they won quite a few one-sided games.

However, they suffered a defeat in their previous game against the Mumbai Indians on May 12 courtesy of a brilliant ton by Suryakumar Yadav. Gujarat Titans’ will now look to win their last two games in IPL 2023 as they will aim for the Qualifier 1 berth to get one additional chance to reach the finals.
