Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is again in headlines for not-so-good reasons as he had a heated discussion with the on-field umpire during a Bangladesh Premier League game against Rangpur Riders.
Shakib entered the ground just after Fortune Barishal openers walked out to bat as Anamul Haque Bijoy was not allowed to take the first strike by the umpire.
Shakib Al Hasan gets into another verbal banter with the on-field umpire
Shakib’s Fortune Barishal faced Rangpur Riders on January 10 in the Bangladesh Premier League. Just after the Barisal openers were getting ready to face the Rangpur bowlers, their skipper Shakib Al Hasan was seen shouting toward them. A few moments later, Shakib entered the ground and charged toward the on-field umpire.
Wicketkeeper-batter Anamul Haque was not allowed to take the strike on the first ball by the umpire and Shakib was visibly annoyed as the umpire denied Anamul from facing the first delivery. The veteran Bangladesh all-rounder then got into a heated argument with the umpire.
Typical #ShakibAlHasan, he is not happy, and making his point clear. Drama before a ball has been bowled in the 2nd innings between Barishal and Riders.

The video of this incident went viral across social media platforms and Shakib faced some backlash from cricket fans as they weren’t happy with the behavior of their most loved cricketer. One of the social media users termed it “Gully Cricket with International laws” while another user wrote “Typical Shakib Al Hasan behavior“.

It’s worth noting that it was not the first time when Shakib had an argument with the on-field umpire. Star all-rounder Shakib is known for having a short temper as he has lost his cool multiple times on the field in the recent past.
On January 7, in the Bangladesh Premier League match between Fortune Barishal and Sylhet Strikers, Shakib got furious over an umpiring decision as a bouncer bowled at him wasn’t called wide by the umpire.

Rangpur Riders managed to post 158-7 in 20 overs courtesy of Rony Talukdar’s crucial knock of 40 while Shoaib Malik played a stellar knock of 54 off just 36 balls. However, this score wasn’t enough for Shakib’s Fortune Barishal as they chased it down with four deliveries remaining with six wickets in hand.
