Team India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury in the World Cup 2023 game against Bangladesh on October 19 after which he was ruled out of the game against New Zealand. As per the latest Hardik Pandya injury update, the Indian star has been ruled out of the World Cup games against England and Sri Lanka.

Pandya had limped off during bowling after putting his right foot to stop a straight drive from Bangladesh opening batter Liton Das. He couldn’t bowl any further in that match and was straightaway being taken for scans in order to analyze the severity of the injury.

The Indian vice-captain was advised to rest after he suffered an ankle injury and has still not begun bowling in the nets. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

“Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised to rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team,” Jay Shah had said about Pandya in his statement, as reported by Indian Express.

Pandya will now be available for the crucial World Cup 2023 game against South Africa. The two in-form teams will contest against each other at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 5.

The seam-bowling all-rounder couldn’t feature in the game against New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 22. The Men in Blue didn’t miss him much in the bowling department as Mohammad Shami picked a 5-wicket haul which allowed them to dismiss the Kiwis for a below-par total.

However, the Rohit Sharma-led side did miss his presence in the batting department after losing the wickets of Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav in a quick succession. The partnership between Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja for the 6th wicket helped the Indian team to chase down the target set by New Zealand without any more hiccups.

As per the latest injury update of Hardik Pandya, it looks like the Men in Blue might go with the same playing XI which will have only 5 bowling options in their lineup. Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammad Shami will most probably retain their spots while Shardul Thakur might not get a chance in the matches against England and Sri Lanka.
