After being injured for the last 2 months KL Rahul will be back in the nets for the Indian team. He injures his left thigh in the Indian Premier League 2023 which sidelined him for the next 2 months. He went under a thigh surgery in the UK which sidelined him for the WTC Final 2023. However, the Ex-India cricketer opposes KL Rahul’s direct India call-up.

The Indian opening batsman got a cramp on his thighs during the game between Lucknow Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore. He picked up the injury while fielding and didn’t come to bat in his usual position instead came to bat at the 11th number as the match was in a very tight situation. However, he couldn’t manage to take his team home in that game and also got ruled out of the tournament for further matches.

The stylish Indian batter is expected to be fully fit for inclusion in the squad. According to the sources, he will begin the practice sessions within a few weeks. KL Rahul is having the role of middle batter in the current Indian ODI team which has suited him well in the past.

However, KL is an opening batter typically so it will take time for him to adapt the batting style of middle order batter back again.

KL Rahul has been going through a rough patch even before he picked up the injury in the IPL. Even in the IPL 2023, he failed to score runs at a good strike rate which cost his team a few matches.

During the T20 WC 2022, his performance was vulnerable which made fans question his place in the XI.

The former Indian leg spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has pointed fingers at KL Rahul’s direct selection into the Indian team by just hitting the net sessions.

Sivaramakrishnan quoted “He should be made to play domestic cricket to assess his match fitness and batting form. Getting back into the Indian team should not be so easy, you bat in the nets and ready for international competition”

The former cricketer wants KL Rahul to play a few domestic games to get the match practice before making it to the national squad. Including him straight into the Asia Cup squad will be a strange move by BCCI as he is not having a great run with the bat.
