Here’s why Rishi Dhawan was wearing face shield when bowling last over to MS Dhoni

The bowling all-rounder made a comeback in the Indian Premier League after a gap of almost 6 years

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings can’t seem to get back to winning ways as they sustained yet another defeat against Punjab Kings in the 38th Match of the Indian Premier League. Rishi Dhawan was seen playing for PBKS and the cricketer made a comeback in the league after a gap of almost 6 years. He stole all the limelight in the match as the cricketer was seen wearing a protective mask while he was bowling the last over to MS Dhoni.

Rishi Dhawan wore a protective mask

Rishi Dhawan has been pretty active in the domestic circuit and has been leading the Himachal Pradesh. The bowling all-rounder led the Himachal team to an amazing victory in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy last year. He was bought by PBKS in the 2022 Mega Auction for INR 55 lakhs. The 38th match between CSK and PBKS saw Rishi Dhawan playing in the IPL after a long gap of 6 years.

The cricketer was seen wearing a protective mask while he was bowling the last over to former CSK skipper MS Dhoni. The reason behind wearing the face mask was that Rishi had undergone a surgery recently for an injury that he incurred on his nose while playing in the Ranji Trophy. Rishi Dhawan was hopeful about making a good comeback in the IPL and he had a decent outing as he scalped two CSK wickets.

On the other hand, CSK has sunk further and only has 4 points to show in the 8 matches they have played.
