Team India must be proud of how they played in the first T20I against England. The team outclassed England who recently won the 5th Test against India to draw the series. This was indeed a good start for the team as part of their T20 World Cup prep. While the fans witnessed a clinical performance from India, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma calls Indian players ‘sloppy’ even after winning the match with quite ease.

After England’s historic run-chase in the last Test match, team India needed to come back in the shorter format of the game and they did it with flying colours in the first T20I in Southampton. Their all-around performance ensured a much-needed victory for the team. Though they won the match, captain Rohit Sharma calls Indian players ‘sloppy’.

Rohit Sharma came back to lead the team in the first T20I after recovering from Covid, because of which he couldn’t play the all-important 5th Test of India’s Tour of England 2021. The full-time captain is now back in the scheme of things and will lead his troop in the upcoming matches. Talking about their performance, Rohit praised the effort of his team but also mentioned that they need to raise the bar as far as their fielding is concerned.

The Indian fielders dropped a few catches which could have proved dangerous for the team; however, the bowlers didn’t lose the grip on the English batters. Talking about the dropped catches in the post-match presentation, Rohit said, “We were sloppy in the field. Those catches should’ve been taken. We want to set a high standard in that department. Not proud of it.”

Hardik Pandya was selected as the Player of the Match for his half-century and 4 important wickets for his team. The Indian all-rounder has made a strong comeback to the national team after spending a lot of time out of the team because of his back injury.
