Hero CPL 2020 Schedule Indian Date And Time, Stadiums and Matches: In some heartwarming news that should bring respite to cricket fans all across the globe, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) yesterday released the itinerary for the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). The extravagant T20-fiesta is set to commence from August 18 and will feature 33-matches played across two closed-door stadiums in Trinidad and Tobago.
CPL 2020 will be played exclusively in Trinidad and Tobago
The decision to select an isolated venue comes in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. CPL 2020 will progress in three phases, each taking place in a separate, bio-secured stadium. Tarouba’s Brian Lara Cricket Academy will host the first and third phases, totaling to 23-matches, including the play-offs; while the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain will host 10 matches in the second phase. Guyana Amazon Warriors, the runners-up from last season, will take on the Trinibago Knight Riders in the season opener.
CPL CEO Damien O’Donohoe elucidated in his address that the CWI prioritizes its players’ safety above all. However, despite a ‘different’ CPL, the tournament’s cricket quality will be higher than ever. “This year will be a different CPL, but the standard will be higher than ever. We have how passionately fans are waiting for the live sport since to return. It’s an honor for us to be the first T20 league amidst all the social distancing, and we hope to deliver to our fans.”
