Sarfaraz Khan has been grabbing attention following a memorable Test debut at Rajkot. The Mumbai-born batter notched up two quick-fire half-centuries in both innings, earning him a spot in the playing XI for the 4th Test match as well. Currently, he is playing his second Test match at Ranchi. On the third day of the match, Sarfaraz Khan found himself receiving a reprimand from skipper Rohit Sharma after he nearly attempted a risky move.
During the 47th over of England’s second innings, Sarfaraz Khan, who was fielding at long-on, was called by skipper Rohit Sharma to change his fielding position to silly point. Sarfaraz obeyed his captain’s instructions and moved to silly point. However, he was not wearing a helmet and was even ready to field without one.
However, skipper Rohit Sharma wasn’t impressed with Sarfaraz’s risky move and was heard saying, ‘Hey bhai, hero nahi ban ne ka idhar’ (hey brother, don’t try to be a hero here). Rohit Sharma’s words were clear, conveying his concern and indicating that he didn’t want his teammate to be in any potential danger.
It even goes against cricket’s laws to field without protection at positions like silly point. Umpire Kumar Dharamsena denied Sarfaraz Khan permission to field without a helmet, stating, “No, you can’t field without the helmet.”

Talking about the match, India is in a commanding position. On the fourth day, they will require 152 runs to win, with all 10 wickets in hand. Only a miracle can now turn the game in England’s favor. If India secures the victory, they will also clinch the 5-match series. The 5th Test is scheduled to be hosted at the scenic stadium in Dharamshala from March 7.
