The scenic stadium of Dharamshala is under construction as the ground is getting a new drainage system. The turf at the ground will sand base like the stadiums in Australia and South Africa. The renovation process became necessary as Dharamshala experiences a lot of rain which deteriorates the turf quality.

The renovation of the stadium should have been completed by now but the new drainage system is taking more time than expected. Unfortunately, BCCI needs to shift the venue for the third test from Dharamshala to somewhere else.

There has been no Test match played at the HPCA stadium since 2017

The last test match at the HPCA stadium was played in 2017 that too between India and Australia only. India won that game comfortably inside 4 days and clinched the series 2-1. Since then the venue has hosted a couple of T20 and One-day games but not a test match.

There is still time for the last inspection by the HPCA inspection to have a final say on the turf for the 3rd Test. If the outfield condition remains the same then BCCI has to shift the venue from Dharamshala to somewhere else.
