‘Hurt’ Wriddhiman Saha reveals why he chooses not to play for Bengal in Ranji Trophy knock-outs

The wicketkeeper-batsman was hurt after a CAB official made some comments questioning his integrity and commitment for Bengal.

Wriddhiman Saha looked in good touch when he played for Gujarat Titans in the recently concluded Indian Premier League. The wicketkeeper-batsman gave quick starts to his team which aided the batsmen to follow. The seasoned campaigner has now talked about his future plans and a hurt Wriddhiman Saha has made it clear that he is no longer going to represent Bengal in domestic cricket.

A hurt Wriddhiman Saha opts out of Bengal

The batsman who is known for his agile wicketkeeping has been part of the Indian Test team for quite a long time, however his place in the team has not been constant. After a decent run in the IPL 2022, a hurt Wriddhiman Saha has opened up on his plans in domestic cricket. The right-handed batsman was picked in the Bengal squad for the knockout stage, but the cricketer opted not to play for the state.

It is noteworthy that Saha has been a part of the Bengal team in domestic cricket for almost 15 years, however comments made by an official of the Cricket Association of Bengal last year hurt Wriddhiman Saha. Post the comments, Saha decided to opt out of the Ranji Trophy knock-outs and is looking to represent some other state in domestic cricket.

Wriddhiman Saha is hailed as one of the best wicketkeepers in the game and has proved his ability behind the stumps multiple times. The CAB official questioned the cricketer’s integrity and commitment to Bengal cricket which hurt Wriddhiman Saha deeply. Though, Saha admitted that he was very sad to take the decision, he couldn’t continue playing for Bengal after what transpired.

“For me, too, it is a very sad feeling that I have to go through something like this after playing for Bengal for so long. It is disappointing that people make such comments and question your integrity. As a player, I had never faced such a thing in the past, but now that it has happened, even I need to move on,” told a hurt Wriddhiman Sahan to Sportstar.

Saha has been a veteran for Bengal as he played 122 first-class matches and 102 List A games for the state. The batsman also said that he is in touch with different associations and will finalise his team soon. It is to be seen which team Saha represents in the domestic cricket now after he has made up his mind of not playing for Bengal.
