Despite good performances in the domestic circuit, the 35-year-old batter from Gujarat, Sheldon Jackson, was not included in the India A side for the upcoming red-ball series against New Zealand-A. The India A and West Zone Duleep Trophy squads were announced on Wednesday and the wicket-keeper batter couldn’t make it to any of the two. Reacting to his omission, the cricketer expressed his disappointment by posting a cryptic tweet.

Sheldon Jackon has been a familiar name in the Indian domestic circuit and had performed well recently with almost 2000 runs in the last three seasons. It was expected that Sheldon would make it to the India A squad, however, his age seems to not be going his way.

Sheldon Jackson slams the selectors for not considering his performances

Sheldon was quick to react to his omission from India A squad on Wednesday evening as he went on to post about it on Twitter. He wrote that he believed he would be picked as he had performed well in the last three seasons. Sheldon stated that he is tired of being called a performer and considered too old for selection at the same time. He pointed out that the selectors should have kept his age aside and selected him on the basis of his performances. “I’m 35, not 75”, he wrote.

The fans had mixed reactions to Sheldon’s tweet. While some fans went on to sympathize with him, one of the fans pointed out that the batter had a terrible IPL season. The fan mentioned that it was due to Sheldon’s poor performance in the IPL that he is not being considered now. “I understand your pain but you were terrible in the IPL. All that hype; fizzled. Sorry,” the fan wrote. Jackson then went on to reply to the fan’s comment by accepting the fact that he wasn’t up to the mark in the IPL.

“Hey, I understand you’re upset with me, and I was angry with myself too coz I haven’t got anything in cricket easily or early, but in cricket, it happens no matter how much you try at times, things don’t go your way, I’m sorry I couldn’t show you how good I actually am, someday,” Jackson replied.
