Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah bowling in tandem that’s what every Mumbai Indians fan is hoping ahead of the IPL 2023 edition.

However, Jofra Archer shared a cryptic tweet on December 19 which has left the MI fans a bit worried about his comeback.

Returning to the Test team is my top priority says Jofra Archer

Mumbai Indians picked Jofra Archer at a price of INR 8 crore in the IPL 2022 mega-auction despite being aware of the fact that the English speedster won’t be able to participate in IPL 2022 season as he won’t recover from injury in time. The whole idea was to buy Archer and retain him for the next two seasons in order to create a deadly pace combination of Archer and Bumrah.

However, Archer posted a cryptic tweet on December 19 that left cricket fans curious about his availability for the IPL 2023 edition. “If I leave quietly I’m not coming back,” Jofra Archer Tweeted. Archer is facing a chronic elbow injury due to which he hasn’t played any professional game since March 2021.

“Obviously to get back to the first team is my number one priority but also getting back there as safely as possible. I’d rather take these last few months very seriously, more serious than probably all of the rehab because once this phase goes right then it can set me up for the next three to four years injury-free,” Archer said as quoted by Indian Express.

The English pacer did bowl for England Lions in November against England’s test side in UAE ahead of their Pakistan tour. Archer has also been picked by MI Cape Town for the inaugural SA20 tournament in South Africa in January next year and the Mumbai-based franchise will expect him to get fully fit for the tournament in time.

Mumbai Indians had a terrible outing in last year’s IPL as the franchise was placed at the bottommost position on the points table getting just four victories out of their fourteen games. The franchise must be hoping that the pacer will represent them and play a vital role in the IPL 2023 season.
