Former Australian pacer Mitchell Johnson recently wrote a column for The West Australian newspaper and since then he has been surrounded by controversy. In the column, he has targetted his former teammate David Warner. Johnson is not pleased with David Warner asking for a farewell at the end of his Test career as he was involved in the ball-tampering scandal in 2018. Amid this, Mitchell Johnson is now getting Virat Kohli fans’ attention for his recent Instagram comments on the Indian batter.

During his playing days, Mitchell Johnson was engaged in a fierce rivalry with Virat Kohli. Both players were involved in sledging incidents during India’s Test tour to Australia in 2014. Although Australia emerged victorious in the 4-match series with a 2-0 lead, Virat Kohli clearly outshone Mitchell Johnson in their individual rivalry. Kohli, with 692 runs and four centuries, emerged as India’s top performer in the series.

It appears that the wounds inflicted by Kohli on Johnson have not yet healed. Recently on Instagram, a user attempted to provoke Mitchell Johnson with the comment, “Remember Virat Kohli?” Instead of brushing off the comment, Johnson chose to respond, which is an invitation to Virat Kohli’s fans to his account. The former fast bowler’s reply was ‘Who?’.

In the same post, another fan challenged Johnson to come out of retirement and face Virat Kohli. The Instagram user’s comment read, “Young Virat Kohli owned you, come back from retirement and challenge Virat Kohli. He will smash you all over the park”. To which the 42-year-old former cricketer gave a sarcastic reply. The left-arm pacer replied, “I’ll even play right-handed to play fair”
