India’s star batter Shikhar Dhawan is known for his style statement which includes a few tattoos that are carved on his body. Shikhar recently revealed an old incident when he went for an HIV test due to the fear of the needle that was used for one of his tattoos.

Dhawan will be seen captaining the Punjab Kings side in the IPL 2023 beginning on March 31. Punjab Kings let go Mayank Agarwal after which Dhawan was announced as the new leader of the Punjab-based franchise.

Shikhar Dhawan reveals a fascinating tale about his tattoo

“When I was 14-15 years old, I had gone to Manali and had got a tattoo done on my back without informing my family members. I had to hide it for quite some time, about 3-4 months, and then when my father got to know, he beat me,” Dhawan revealed on Aaj Tak.

“I got a bit scared after doing the tattoo because I had no clue about the number of bodies that needle had pierced. So then I went and did my HIV Test and it’s negative to date (laughs),” Shikhar further added.

“My first tattoo, on my back, was a Scorpio. Because at that time, that was my thought. Then I made a design on it. I also got a tattoo of Lord Shiva in my hand. I also got a tattoo of Arjun, he was our best archer,” the star opener further said about his tattoo.

The star opening batter is currently out of the Indian squad after he registered three consecutive single-digit scores in the ODI series against Bangladesh. The Indian team management roped in young opening batters to help them prepare ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have got their opportunities as the opener along with skipper Rohit Sharma in the ODI format. Gill has constantly delivered results for the Men in Blue after which he seems to be the preferred option for the opening slot.

Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan will get a chance to showcase his potential once again during IPL 2023. The Southpaw has been one of the most consistent batters I’m the history of Indian Premier League.

He will certainly be eyeing a comeback to the national side and will look to perform consistently for his IPL franchise Punjab Kings both as a batter and a leader.
