After becoming no.1, a few hours later, India dropped down to no.2 which left the fans confused.

The International Cricket Council committed a huge error on its official website. ICC commits a blunder by making India the No.1 Test Team, rectifies later.

In the latest ICC Men’s Test rankings, India is currently sitting at the second spot whereas the Aussies are on top of the table. The ICC website handler mistakenly put India in the top spot and dethroned Australia to the second spot.

Australia who are having 126 rating points in the table was mistakenly given 111 points instead. On the other side, India was given 115 points which meant they are the leaders of the rankings. Australia just defeated the proteas 2-0 in the 3-match test series but they were mistakenly to downgrade in the table instead of upgrade. The incident left fans thinking of a possible malfunction in the website.

Though ICC immediately corrected the error and awarded Australia 126 points. The Indian team was given 116 points after the correction by ICC.

India and Australia are set to lock horns in a 4 match Test series starting next month

Two of the biggest arch-rivals on the field are going to square off in a 4 match test series which will decide the fate of the No.1 spot in ICC rankings. If India manages to defeat Australia in the series then they will surely overtake Australia in the ICC Men’s Test rankings.

The series is also important for India in particular because their WTC Final spot is also on the line. Australia is already having its name in the WTC 2023 Final spot. India is eyeing the second spot which will result in an India-Australia final at the Oval in June this year.

Australians are going through a sublime form defeating every opposition home and away. India will be the most challenging task for them as India are yet to lose a Test series at their home since 2012. Steven Smith already stated that the biggest goal of his career is to defeat India on their home soil.

Aussies would also like to take the revenge of past two Border Gavaskar trophy defeats.
