ICC find themselves in a spot after tagging the wrong Sri Lankan in their post

After realizing the blunder, ICC deleted their post from all the social media handles.

The two Asian teams Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are locking horns in a 2 match Test series. The first game was a lacklustre affair where both the teams notched up high scores but none could attain victory. The game turned out to be quite boring, to say the least. However, the Sri Lankan batsmen were at their ultimate best, especially Karunaratne, Thirimanne and de Silva. ICC in one of their posts appreciated Thirimanne, however they tagged Karunaratne in it.

Bangladesh opted to bat after winning the toss in the first match and declared after posting an impressive total of 541. The Sri Lankan batsmen were up for the challenge and made light work of the total posted by Bangladesh by declaring at the score of 648. The highlight of the Sri Lankan inning was the opener Karunaratne’s double-century. The opening batsman shattered many records as he scored 244 runs in 437 deliveries.

ICC made a mess of the appreciation post

ICC was impressed with the way the Sri Lankan batsmen went about their business. They even appreciated Thirimanne in one of their posts on Twitter, however, they made a mess of it by tagging not Thirimanne, but the opener Karunaratne in it. The fans were quick to notice the mistake and started correcting ICC. Even Karunaratne himself commented on the post saying, “That’s not me”.

After realizing their mistake, ICC deleted the post and reposted it tagging the correct batsman in the picture Lahiru Thirimanne. Both the teams are now engaged in the second Test match which is taking place at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium; the same venue where the first game took place as well.

Sri Lanka has got a solid start in the second game. Both the openers are playing steadily and have scored 79 runs at the time of writing this article. The fans will be hoping for an interesting contest after the mundane first Test.
