Iceland Cricket offers to host India vs Pakistan Test series; to provide Sniper Security and 24-hour daylight

The offer from Iceland is a hilarious dig at England Cricket Board who recently proposed England as a neutral venue to host a Test Series between India and Pakistan.

The last time cricket world witnessed an India vs Pakistan bilateral was about 10 years ago in 2013. Their last test affair is thing of even more distant past, having been held in December 2007 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.

Barring multi-team tournaments like Cricket World Cup, Asia Cup and Champions Trophy, the rival nations haven’t played against each other in for a decade and a half.

The Men in Blue long dictated terms in the aforementioned games. However, Pakistan has upped their resolve in recent past, achieving enviable success against the 3 time World Cup champs both in ODIs and T20Is.

Thus, there has been a general outroar for a potential Test Series between the two sides.

Iceland Cricket takes a dig at ECB, offers to host India vs Pakistan Tests Series with insane benefits

Only a couple of days ago, England Cricket Board reportedly proposed England as a neutral venue to host an India vs Pakistan Test Series.

Martin Darlow, ECB deputy chairman, had put the offer forward to PCB president Ramiz Raja during the ongoing England tour of Pakistan according to ESPNCricinfo.

However, Iceland Cricket has now joined the race (though just for fun) and offered a much better deal than ECB. The deal includes 24-hour Daylight (the sun barely sets in Iceland, no cap), Sniper Security and ‘better tweets’ covering the action.

In a followup sarcastic Tweet aimed at ECB, Iceland Circket handle has listed out some insane perks it’ll offer if Iceland gets to host India vs Pakistan Test Series. Perks that ECB can not.

These include a battle (called sword joust) where captains have to ride on a horse and try to best each other using a sword, Volcanic Ashes Trophy and 15 consecutive sessions of play per Test (again, a merciless shot at England for their rain-affected games).

The hilarious admin of @icelandcricket has also offered all the fans free Volacano tours if Iceland is allowed to host a India vs Pakistan Test Series.

However, the ECB-Iceland banter aside, the actual possibility of India vs Pakistan bilateral series (in any format) happening in foreseeable future is ‘next to nil’ as confirmed by a BCCI source.

Pakistan Circket Board (PCB) head Ramiz Raja has also not expressed any interest in the offer laid out by ECB.
