IND vs AUS: Fan dives under sight screen in search of ball; gets a huge cheer when he finds it

The ball lost under sight screen after Shubman Gill smashed it for a six and a fan got opportunity to become a hero.

After bowling 167.2 overs, India finally gets to bat in the ongoing Test match in Ahmedabad. While batting first Aussie put in a mammoth 480-run total with help of Khawaja and Cameron Green’s tons. In reply, India are on 36 without losing any wicket. Rohit and Shubman have played only 10 overs in the innings at the stump of day 2. The last over of the day witnesses comical scenes as a fan dived under the sight screen in search of the lost ball.

The incident happened on the 2nd ball of the 10th over when Shubman Gill smashed a six straight down the ground. The ball went under the sight screen and with time running out umpires called to bring in new balls. However, a fan found the opportunity to be the hero and made his way to the white canvas in an attempt to search for the ball.

The fan hilariously went under the canvas but find no luck. In the meantime, umpires had selected a new ball and the match was about to restart. However, the fan was still searching for the ball and umpire Richard  Kettleborough was even seen asking him not to block the sight screen. The determined spectator finally got to his hand to the match ball and cheerfully showed it to everyone. The moment was followed by a huge cheer from the Ahmedabad crowd.

After enjoying his moment of fame, the spectator finally threw the ball toward the ground and even lost his balance and fell on the sight screen with a big smile on his face. Talking about the match, India are currently trailing by 444 runs, and winning or settling on a draw is very important for Rohit Sharma and co. if they want to firm their chances to play the ICC WTC 2022-23 Final. If India loses this Test, they have to hope that New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in the ongoing 2-match Test series.
