England international Joe Root had a woeful day at the office as he was dismissed for a first-ball-duck during the game against Team India in Lucknow. The right-handed batsman who came out to bat at No.3 after Dawid Malan’s departure, was bamboozled by Jasprit Bumrah’s gem of a delivery. Joe Root, who was facing his first ball had no intention to have a go at the bowler as he tried to defend the ball in the first place.

As it turned out, he misjudged the ball completely before the ball hit the pads. Soon after that, the Indian players appealed in unison and the umpire had no hesitation whatsoever in raising his finger. Joe Root was visibly confused as to what happened all of a sudden as he spoke with his partner, Jonny Bairstow before taking the review. Upon reviewing it, the third umpire learnt that the ball would hit the stumps.

Meanwhile, Joe Root wasn’t convinced with the decision made by the third umpire as he felt that the latter ignored a spike in the ultra-edge technology. Joe Root felt that the noise came from his bat but the replay showed that there was already a spike on the screen, which clearly indicates that the noise didn’t come from his bat but from his shoes.
