The series decider of IND-W vs ENG-W T20s was played on 14th July after the Indian women leveled the series by winning the 2nd T20. The T20 series turned interesting due to the final. Unlike the ODI series where the ENG-W acquired an unassailable lead of 2-0, the T20s were leveled at 1-1.

Tammy Beaumont’s peculiar shot

Tammy Beaumont played a strange shot on the last ball of the 3rd over in the 2nd innings of the match. The right-hander hit the shot from almost behind the line of the wickets. It got the commentators surprised as well. To hit the shot, she went across the wickets. The ball went between her and the leg-stump which is usually not seen in cricket. Moreover, it went on to be a boundary.

This shot by Beaumont was one of the highlights of the IND-W vs ENG-W T20 series. Tammy Beaumont could not do much as she was given LBW in the very next over. She could only add 11 runs to the board. Here’s the shot she played.

This is what happened in the IND-W vs ENG-W 3rd T20 match:

The Indian women posted a total of 153 runs with the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Though the Indians were probably 10-15 runs short, it still was a good-looking total. The batters have had given something to bowlers to fight for.

Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant knock of 70 runs in just 51 balls which included 8 fours and 2 sixes as well. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a handy knock of 36 runs to help the team reach a total of 153 runs. Sophie Ecclestone was the highest wicket-taker for England in the match. She grabbed 3 wickets.

Later on, the England batters stood up to the task and chased the total down with 8 balls remaining. The IND-W bowlers seemed ineffective vs the ENG-W batters. Danni Wyatt top scored for ENG-W. She played a quick-fire knock of 89 runs with a strike rate if 158.92, assisted by Nat Sciver’s brilliant 42.

Danni Wyatt was named as the Player of the match for her flawless knock. Whereas, Nat Sciver was awarded as the Player of the Series for her Brilliance throughout the series with the bat and the ball both.

The month-long tour of the IND-W came to an end after the third T20. Though the Indians will not be too satisfied with what happened in the series. No doubt, the IND-W team brilliantly drew the one-off test played vs the ENG-W but since then it was not easy for them.

The ENG-W defeated the Indian side 2-1 in the ODI series as well as in the T20Is with the same margin.
