A few days ago, BCCI had taken a historic move by allowing Indian Cricket Team in the Asian Games. Today, the board has named the India men’s squad which will tour Hangzhou. Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead men in blue for the first time and many new faces are part of the 15-man squad. IPL performers like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma have got the opportunity.

On Friday, BCCI announced the squad with a tweet. It’s a second-string squad as the main team’s focus will be on ICC World Cup 2023. Earlier, there were reports that Shikhar Dhawan may lead the team but selectors had other plans. Ruturaj Gaikwad has not captained team India yet but he has slighter experience of captaining domestic teams. He recently led Puneri Bappa in Maharashtra Premier League.

The women’s team will also make its first appearance in this continental multi-sport event. Harmanpreet Kaur has been named captain of the women’s team. Below, you can check full squads of both men’s and women’s sides.

Asian Games 2023 (officially 2022) event is scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 8 this year. A total of 40 types of sports including cricket are part of the event. Earlier, Cricket was a part of the 2010 and 2014 games but the gentleman’s game was dropped from the 2018 event.
