India Head Coach Ravi Shastri's Post In Danger, CAC Receive Notice

Indian cricket is all set to face another blow as the India Head Coach Ravi Shastri’s Post in danger.  Recently, BCCI’s Ethics officer DK Jain served notices to the CAC members Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy. And if the members found guilty then India Head Coach can face difficulties.

In recent time, Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has reappointed Ravi Shastri as Head Coach. The CAC headed by legendary Kapil Dev had interviewed Tom Moody, Mike Hesson, Lalchand Rajput, Robin Singh and Ravi Shastri before reappointing Ravi Shastri. And Shastri has started his job from September.

Meanwhile, BCCI’s Ethics Officier DK Jain has served a notice of ‘Conflict of Interest’ to the CAC panel. And if the panel led by Kapil Dev found guilty. Ravi’s position in the Indian team can face difficulties. And the process of selection of India’s Head Coach will take place for another time. However, DK Jain has asked the CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee) to reply by October 2010.

“The appointment of Shastri as the head coach will obviously have to be done once again if the committee members who appointed him are found to have a conflict of interest. A new committee will then have to be formed and the whole process has to be re-opened and re-done keeping the newly registered BCCI constitution in mind as the constitution now clearly says that only a CAC can appoint the head coach of the Indian team,” a BCCI official told IANS.

What is Conflict Of Interest?

As per BCCI rules, an individual can’t associate with BCCI and IPL franchise at the same time. In this case, they may have to choose one between two posts. Before Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman also received these notices for their association with BCCI’s CAC panel and IPL franchises.
