Indian women cricket team whitewashed South Africa women in ODI series after winning a close contest at Vadodara. In 3rd ODI match of the series, India batted first but failed to put a decent total at the board as the team all-out on 146 runs. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur remained the highest scorer with 38 runs and Shikha Pandey’s 34 runs knock at the end proved very crucial.

South Africa was heading towards the target but like India, they too failed to build partnerships. Still, Proteas women were dominating in the match as they kept scoreboard running with singles and doubles. In the last 5 overs, South Africa needed 10 runs with 3 wickets in hand. Two boundaries could seal the win for the batting side.

Game Changing Performance Of Indian Team

But 46th over turned out to be game-changing for the Indian team. Left-arm leg spinner Ekta Bisht bowled this over. In 4th ball of the over batsman tried to play the ball over bowler’s head. Ekta Bisht got a hand on the ball and luckily the ball got passed to Manshi Joshi. The next over of skipper Harmanpreet made the things easy for India. Kaur netted set batter Shabnim Ismail as she tried to score a boundary but ended up playing in Punam raut’s hands.

Now, South Africa had one wicket in hand and needed 8 runs in 18 balls. The pressure was on both the side but probably batting side was more under pressure as both the batters were tailenders. Indian skipper made an interesting decision as she handed the ball to Jemimah Rodrigues who hadn’t bowl any over yet in the match. But her decision turned out to be successful as she struck the last wicket in the final ball of 48th over. India clinched the victory by 6 runs.
