India’s 5 T20 World Cup Bound Players whose form is a big concern

Interestingly, four of these players are from the most successful IPL franchise.

The star-packed Indian T20 World Cup squad might have looked flawless during the initial days of its announcement but the form of some of the big names in the squad has started to raise a potential concern for the side. With the IPL 2021 currently underway, all the selected players are featuring in the competition but some have not performed up to the mark of expectancy.

The group stage of the T20 world cup kick-offs just a day after the conclusion of the IPL. The Super 12s though start on the 23rd of October. With T20 World Cup just around the corner, some of the announced Indian players struggling with their form might be a great setback for the Indian team. Here are the 5 important players whose bad form is a worrying sign for India. Interestingly, four of them are from the most successful IPL franchise.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has not been in the best of his form in the second leg of IPL. He has played two 30+ knocks but hasn’t fired from the bat as much as one could expect from him. His subordinary form is one of the reasons why Mumbai Indians are having a tough season this time around. Both the Indian and the Mumbai fans would be hoping for him to come back into form ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Suryakumar Yadav

One of the biggest concern for the Indian T20 World Cup contingent could be Suryakumar’s struggle with the form. He is having a forgettable second phase of IPL with 3, 5, 8, 0 and 33 being his individual scores in 5 matches. His dynamic hitting in the first leg of IPL 2021 convinced the selectors to first pick him in the Indian T20 side. Good performances for the national side earned him a place in the T20 World cup squad but now his form seems to be a big concern.

Ishan Kishan

Alike Suryakumar, Ishan Kishan was brought into the squad with the same criteria, in order to strengthen the middle order but his form in UAE leg has been quite disappointing. He has in-fact been dropped from the Mumbai side as well after he failed in 3 back-to-back innings. SKY and Ishan Kishan are the first choice middle-order batsmen for India and them not being in form might affect the winning chances of the Indian side.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya has been underperforming since almost an year now. His form has been a matter of concern since a significant period of time and his place in the T20 World Cup side has already been a topic of debate numerous times. He is struggling in the ongoing Indian T20 League as well. With just 112 runs in 10 matches at an average of 14, he is one of the most unsuccessful players in this season.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s poor form has added to SRH’s bad run in this IPL season. He hasn’t been very effective with the ball and managed to grab just 2 wickets in the 5 matches of the UAE leg. If Bhuvneshwar Kumar doesn’t return to his old form, with Hardik Pandya unlikely to bowl, India will be left will only 2 pace options, namely, Bumrah and Shami. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s form would hence be crucial for India, heading into the T20 World Cup 2021.
