Injury Concerns ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 Final

Both the teams are struggling with a few injury issues due to which cricket fans might see a couple of changes in the combination. However, the team management will look to field their best playing XI in the all-important game.

While Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera are not yet fit to play in the Sri Lankan XI, Maheesh Theekshana suffered an injury in the game against Pakistan. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer has not regained is fitness while Axar Patel suffered a couple of niggles while batting against Bangladesh on September 15.

Team India will continue with the in-form opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Rohit smashed fifties in the game against Nepal and Pakistan while Gill smoked a ton against Bangladesh along with a couple of fifties in the continental championship.

Virat Kohli will look to continue his form at the number 3 spot after being rested in the game against Bangladesh on September 15. KL Rahul will keep the wickets and bat at number 4 as he has proved his form and fitness after undergoing thigh surgery.

Young Ishan Kishan will get another chance in the middle order after playing a brilliant knock under pressure against Pakistan. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra will retain their spots as all-rounders in the playing XI in the Asia Cup 2023 final vs Sri Lanka.

The only selection dilemma that the team management might face is whether to select Axar Patel or Shardul Thakur at number 8. Axar suffered an injury in the game against Bangladesh and Washington Sundar has been added to the team as his cover.

Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah will get back into the playing XI after being rested in dead rubber against Bangladesh. The team management might also be tempted to pick Mohammed Shami ahead of Mohammad Siraj considering his experience.
