IPL 2022 Auction: Virender Sehwag pokes fun at Krunal Pandya & Deepak Hooda reunion at Lucknow Super Giants

While some seasoned players went unsold, the uncapped Indian players made a mark on the first day of the Mega Auction.

Day 1 of the IPL 2022 Auction was a thrilling affair as the uncapped players raked in big moolah while some biggies were sold for below-par amount. However, the biggest surprise for the viewers was the reunion of Krunal Pandya & Deepak Hooda who were bought by the new Franchise Lucknow Super Giants. Following the purchase by Lucknow, Virender Sehwag pokes fun at the reunion of the two cricketers who were at loggerheads not too long ago.

Krunal Pandya was a regular member of the Mumbai Indians setup before he was released by them ahead of the Mega Auction. Krunal Pandya garnered a huge amount of 8.25crs. INR and has been added to Lucknow’s squad. Another player who was bought by the franchise is Deepak Hooda who was sold at 5.75crs. INR This Krunal-Hooda combination is what intrigued the fans considering the history both the players share.

In the year 2021, Hooda created a furore as he accused Krunal Pandya of abusing him and threatening him to end his career. As a result, Hooda was suspended and then the cricketer decided to leave the Baroda setup to join Rajasthan as his domestic team. Hooda was recently seen in action in the ODI series against West Indies, where he fared decently.

The reunion of Krunal Pandya & Deepak Hooda has inspired the netizens to make hilarious memes and the former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag came up with a funny Tweet as well. Taking to his Twitter account, Sehwag wrote, “Hooda and Krunal would be a good pair. Divided by Baroda, United by Lucknow.”

The Lucknow franchise had already announced KL Rahul as their captain for the season and had retained Marcus Stoinis and Ravi Bishnoi. Lucknow Super Giants have got quite a few all-rounders in their pool of players. Apart from Krunal-Hooda reunion, another big moment of the auction was when Mumbai Indians spent a whopping 15.25crs. INR to buy the young Ishan Kishan, who became the most expensive player on the first day of the Mega Auction.
